Ask the Doctor

"Dr. Didi looking thoughtful"
Many people are confused about proper child-rearing techniques.
"Are we supposed to be their friends or foes?" they query.
"Do we make them do what we think is right, or
do we shuffle things around according to their feelings?"
These are good questions.
I can only answer based on the complete authority of
my Ph.D, my Years of Experience, and how I, myself,  was raised!
Fly by the seat of your pants!
Go with the flow of your moods.
If you're nasty 'cause you're stressed, or silly cause you've had one glass of wine too many,
be not afraid dear parents, nor overly concerned.
You're actually giving children a glimpse of the real world instead of some
fantasy la la land where they are loved and taken care of!

On the Train

Pretty girl takes the train
looking happy
feeling sane

Wrinkled brow, scratchy cheek
hair is thin
chin is weak

Eyes of blue opened wide
no way she's sitting
by your side!

a seat alone is what she needs
stay clear of her
or she will sneeze

and cough and hack until you fear
that you'll get sick
should you sit near!
PRETTY GIRL!!

The End of the Affair!

Pretty Girl with blowing tresses

Driving very fast
in a hot, red car
Pretty Girl takes a ride
but doesn't get too far

the street he took was narrow
with speed bumps all the way
in fact it was a dead end
and she was heard to say

"a Loser Ride, my friend
I'm really not impressed
I should have known better
Oh ya, I should have guessed

Cause...
your car is kind of rusty
and the leather - only vinyl
i will not ride again with you
my friend, the answer's final

so I will take my hairbrush
and my lipstick that is pretty
and ride the trusty subway
back into the city!
Ciao!

The Russian

Tucked inside her Lulu lemon hoodie, this mystery woman refused to comment on the crisis in the middle east. Instead, she was heard to say, "I, Katarina Katrina Katinka Smith- Anderson, just want to dance!"

Fluff 'n Tot

So there I was, busy taking care of little tots (I am doing community service work for a minor misdemeanor I demeaned several months ago...
So anyhow, there I was busy wiping noses and bottoms - in varying order - when I realised my hair was getting quite flat! Now, I always carry a can of industrial strength hairspray with me, so I stopped and did a quick pick me up (see photo). How was I to know that, at the very same moment my eyes where squeezed shut (to keep the toxic spray out of them), one of the little tykes would reach for my sharp scissors and start to run.
Who can predict such erratic toddler behaviour?? I had clearly marked the scissors with a skull and crossbones to signify "DANGER!". (Most babies under the age of three cannot read! This is appalling to me and something I want to rectify as soon as my own life is back on fabulous mode.)
Well, I stopped fluffing, tackled the tot, and confiscated the scissors with a stern warning to "Never take things without asking, little sir!!" Unfortunately, no one else was around to witness my quick, decisive reaction, so (not one to boast) I never mentioned the incident to my supervisor.
P.S. the cut on the little tyke's hand is healing quite nicely, which goes to show, "Why panic, when you can fluff instead!!"

Photo Op

What a suprise! There I was, in my own home, thinking about groceries (and how to get some), when a paparrazi snuck up on me and shouted "Roxanne!! Don't hide from the camera!!" Well, I turned to see who was shouting out like that and, Presto Photo! my picture was once again taken. (Notice the toothpaste dribble on my left bosom area...) Wow! It just makes me realise how true the words are that Swami Rami used to say,
"No matter where you are in life, there is always an opportunity for publicity!"... or was it "serenity"?? I can't remember, really, but it's all very true! So true!
